Associate Professor Breen B.Eng. PhD has worked as a researcher in various laboratories and departments around the world. Since joining WSU in 2013 he has been awarded 9 research grants, bringing his combined total research budget to date, to $15.5 million. These funds were awarded by the US Department of Defence, NHMRC, NSW and National Australian Departments of Industry and the Australian Association of Gerontology. Key to these successes has been a focus on transdisciplinary research with real-world impact and collaboration with industry.

Dr Gaetano Gargiulo
Gaetano D. Gargiulo is an electronic engineer with a specialization (PhD) in biomedical instrumentation and physiological data analysis. He is listed as inventor on seven PCT patents several of which have been granted in more than 50 countries. He currently works as research senior lecturer at the MARCS Institute where he is contributing to the research and development of wearable sensors, medical devices. His main research interest is in the development of novel biomedical devices for advanced early diagnosis of diseases and ‘inverse modelling’.
